Robert Gniewek (Born 1951) is active/lives in Michigan.  Robert Gniewek is known for Photo-real streetscape painting.

Robert Gniewek is a second generation Photorealist painter.  He paints American roadside culture from the late 1940s and early 1950s, and focusing on 'disappearing' parts of the landscape, documents small town cafes and diners, gas stations, and motels.  The artist's approach combines warm and cool light sources - natural light with neon - for maximum visual impact.

As a Photo Realist, he uses three or four photographs of his subject as a source of information for his work.  The artist often revisits sites he remembers from earlier travels in preparation for each painting and, unfortunately, at times, he discovers the place no longer exists. In his paintings, Gniewek thinks that the images ought to be preserved because these places are an important part of America's legacy.
